NEED-TO-KNOW: Eidola ‘To Speak, To Listen’

Blue Swan Records band Eidola released their new record To Speak, To Listen a few weeks ago and if you’re a post-hardcore or prog metal fan you need to check the record out. The album debuted at #10 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and #11 on Hard Rock, so it’s safe to say it’s worth listening to. They’ve got an experimental vibe but they take care not to neglect their heavy side. If you like what you hear, they will be on tour with The Ongoing Concept later this summer.

RECORD REVIEW: Megosh’s ‘Apostasy’ Earns Them The Spotlight

With the release of their debut full-length, Megosh has earned themselves a spot amongst the top post-hardcore players. Apostasy is utterly enchanting and impossible to resist. The record starts off on an electrifying note with “Checkerboards & Cigarettes” and only increases its bold sense of creativity from there. “Desparada” is a track we challenge you to rid from your brain after just one play while “Carrying Fire” is one that will reach into the very ventricles of your heart.  Apostasy deserves your attention, and it will command it.

Interview: From The Depths at Loud Fest NJ

FromTheDepths_LoudFesthxcmag

We hung out at Loud Fest this past weekend in Freehold, NJ at Gamechanger World to see sets from the likes of Cane Hill, The Plot In You, Emarosa and more. While the music venue’s sound seriously sucked and messed with the quality of a lot of the performances, it was still a fun day of local and big name music.

HXC Magazine had two interviews lined up that day: One with From The Depths, a local Jersey band, and one with The Plot In You. This is the first of those two interviews. So say hello to the guys in From The Depths and find out why the local scene is, as drummer Tim Byrd says, “about coming together, not growing apart”. #DefendJersey
