LIVE SHOTS: THE NEW REIGN TOUR PART II

Born Of Osiris, Betraying The Martyrs and Volumes hit Gramercy Theatre in NYC on June 25th as part of The New Reign Tour Part II. The bands had tons of new tunes to play and mullet wigs to wear (why?) and our very own Anthony Bello captured some of the best moments. Check out the full photo gallery right here!

‘Chopped’ Chef Chris Santos Forges Path In Metal

chris-santos“The first thing that comes to mind is how un-metal this background music is,” chef, restauranteur, and metal label founder Chris Santos starts. We’re sitting with him in the curtained off gold lounge in the basement of Vandal, a Bowery must-visit restaurant for the hungry art lover, as Justin Timberlake plays over the PA.

LIVE SHOTS: Staten Island Summerfest (Part 1)

When someone says you’re making a scene, they might mean that you’re being too overdramatic in public for comfort. But here at Staten Island’s Overspray music venue, where the walls are as covered in artwork as most of the show-goers skins, a bunch of punks, rockers, hardcore kids and metalheads (including an eight-year-old who is most definitely cooler than you) came together for August 5th’s Summerfest to make a scene that’s about more than just being overly loud and in your face.

Show Review: Enter Shikari’s The Mindsweep Tour

The rambunctious, poetic, bouncy, and melodic Brits in Enter Shikari accomplished their mission to take us on a musical journey as we moved through highs and lows, covering a wide spectrum of emotion. From “Constellations” to “Mothership,” “The Paddington Frisk,” and an assortment of tracks from The Mindsweep, their electronic, energetic entertainment included a trumpeting Reynolds, a crowdsurfing amp with Rory Clewlow standing on it while playing, and Rory Clewlow walking across the VIP over the bar and into the stairs and seating in the back of the venue, amongst other shenanigans. Their live performance is guaranteed to keep you off your feet. Enter Shikari can make you move whether you want to or not.

LIVE SHOTS: SWORN IN, WILSON, MISS MAY I, WE CAME AS ROMANS

GRAMERCY, NYC – The Road to Bands VS. Food Tour may have been an odd tour title, but named an unforgettable night (April 23rd). Featuring the bands Sworn In, Wilson, Miss May I and We Came as Romans, the line-up was diverse, but oh so satisfying. Starting with Sworn In definitely got the room going wild, especially the crowd killers. Tyler Dennen (Vocalist) fueled the audience as everyone raised their fists and yelled the lyrics with him. When the song “Sunshine” kicked in it got real. Coming down into the crowd, Tyler became surrounded as he continued to scream out the words along with everyone else. It was an epic moment and a great turnout since Sworn In’s previous New York shows were filled with technical issues and illnesses. Luckily their curse was broken and they were able to put on a sick opening to the night.
