American Standards usually center their records around social commentary, and while there is still a healthy amount of that on the Arizona band’s new record Anti-Melody, they’ve also endeavored to try something completely new for them. As tragedy after tragedy befell the band members during the writing process of this record, they realized that they couldn’t put out an honest album without being open about their personal experiences.

More people are opening up about their struggles and trying to get rid of the stigma that depression isn’t a serious clinical problem. Ghost Key vocalist Austin O’Brien is one of those people. With the band’s new record, If I Don’t Make It, coming out on February 17th via InVogue Records, he finally shares his own story.

Something More, In Theory To Play ‘Let’s Move Cities’ Benefit Show

This Sunday, December 13th, the non-profit organization If I Die Young will be holding a benefit show called Let’s Move Cities at the Foxhole Lounge in Berkeley Heights, NJ. The show will feature bands like Something More and In Theory as well as guest speakers to bring awareness to subjects like addiction, self-harm, suicide and depression. If you’re in or around the area this weekend and are looking for something fun and worth while to do, go see some live music and support a good cause.
